You Auto Know: Online License Renewal in Kentucky

Renewing a driver’s license has become a difficult process due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is making renewing your driver’s license easier and more convenient than ever before. This week the Cabinet has launched a new service allowing Kentucky residents to renew their driver’s license online.

This new option will be available to Kentucky residents with standard licenses or REAL IDs that meet the following criteria:

1. Standard driver’s license or REAL ID
2. Expiring within 6 months or expired for less than a year
3. Maintaining the same card version as your current card
4. Name and address staying the same as current card

Those who need to replace a lost or stolen license will still need to visit one of the Driver Licensing Regional Field Offices. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has implemented this new service with the hopes of reducing the spread of COVID-19 and making the driver’s license renewal process more efficient.
